Pope Francis Welcomes President Zuzana Čaputová of Slovakia
Recently, Pope Francis graciously received the President of the Republic of Slovakia, Zuzana Čaputová, and her delegation at the Vatican. The meeting was held to discuss various important matters, including the situation in Ukraine.
During the audience, President Čaputová had a fruitful discussion with Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, and the Reverend Msgr. Mirosław Wachowski, Under-Secretary for Relations with States. Their conversation touched upon the recent assassination attempt on the Prime Minister, upcoming changes in presidency, and the approaching European elections.
The visit comes in the aftermath of Slovak Prime Minister, Robert Fico, surviving a serious assassination attempt. Fico, a prominent figure in Slovak politics, is currently recovering from the attack and is expected to resume his duties soon. The President and Vatican officials expressed hopes for peace, stability, and unity in Slovakia during these challenging times.
