Discover Botero’s Legacy in Rome
Experience the larger-than-life sculptures of the renowned Colombian artist Fernando Botero showcased throughout the historic streets of Rome. These eight monumental works, known for their voluptuous figures, are a celebration of life and a testament to Botero’s artistic brilliance.
Curated by Botero’s daughter, Lina Botero, this outdoor exhibition titled Botero a Roma features iconic pieces such as Seated Woman, Gatto, Reclining Woman, Venus Dormida, and more. These sculptures will be on display in various locations including Terrazza del Pincio, Piazza del Popolo, and Piazza Mignanelli.
Botero, who passed away at the age of 91, had deep connections to Italy. He traveled extensively to study the works of Italian Renaissance masters, notably Piero della Francesca. In tribute to his love for Italy, Botero was laid to rest in the picturesque town of Pietrasanta, alongside his wife, Sophia Vari.
Don’t miss this captivating exhibition that precedes a major showcase of Botero’s art at Palazzo Bonaparte in September. Immerse yourself in the beauty of these sculptures that reflect Botero’s profound impact on the world of art.
