By Vatican News
In less than a year, Rome will host a special Jubilee event for digital missionaries and Catholic influencers from around the world. Scheduled for July 28 and 29, 2025, this gathering will precede the Youth Jubilee and provide a platform for those dedicated to spreading the Good News through social media. Many attendees will reunite after first meeting at World Youth Day in Lisbon in 2023.
During the Lisbon event, Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça emphasized the important role of digital influencers in bringing hope to social media platforms. He encouraged them to see themselves as part of the Church’s missionary life, tasked with proclaiming God’s mercy with creativity and courage.
Become part of a communal mission
Pope Francis has urged digital missionaries to view themselves as a community working towards a common goal within the Church’s missionary life. This Jubilee aims not only to foster a sense of community and communion among participants but also to create a space for this missionary community to pass through the Holy Door during the Jubilee year.
Join the First National Meeting of Digital Missionaries in Brazil
On July 13, Aparecida will host the inaugural National Meeting of Digital Missionaries in Brazil. Organized by the Episcopal Commission for Social Communications (Cepac) of the Brazilian Bishops’ Conference (CNBB), in collaboration with other key partners, this event will focus on the theme “Cast the Nets” inspired by the Gospel of Luke. Participants will engage in discussions and activities from 9 am to 6 pm.
Embrace synodality in the digital realm
Bishop Amilton Manoel da Silva of Guarapuava, a member of Cepac CNBB, emphasizes the importance of unity and communion in spreading the Gospel in today’s digital landscape. He encourages individuals to rediscover the wonder of Jesus Christ and the Gospel, moving beyond complacency and apathy towards a deeper faith and sense of community.
Engage in Conversations with Catholic Influencers
The upcoming event will feature Monsignor Lucio Adrian Ruiz, Secretary of the Holy See’s Dicastery for Communication, alongside other prominent figures in the Church. Through dialogue, roundtables, and spiritual activities, participants will strengthen their commitment to digital evangelization. The CNBB’s Commission for Social Communications plans to expand future gatherings to increase participation and mission efforts in the digital space, emphasizing discernment and synodality in their approach.
