Homily of H.E. Mons. Edgar Peña Parra
Dear brothers and sisters in the faith,
Dear Lord Apostolic Nuncio and esteemed guests,
As we gather here today, let us reflect on the words of His Holiness, Pope Francis, who sends his warm greetings to all of us. It is a privilege to stand before you in this sacred space and convey the Pope’s affection for the Honduran people.
In the Gospel, we are reminded of Mary’s unwavering faith and action. Just as Mary embarked on her journey after the Angel’s announcement, we too must continue moving forward in our faith. Mary’s journey mirrors the path of the Church, where she welcomes and guides us through life’s challenges.
Each Marian shrine serves as a sanctuary where Mary comforts and supports her children. In times of hardship, Mary is a beacon of hope, leading us towards the light of Christ. Let us seek her intercession and protection as we navigate through life’s trials and tribulations.
Mary’s example of love and service inspires us to welcome Jesus into our hearts and reach out to those in need. In a world marred by conflict and injustice, let us emulate Mary’s compassion and work towards building a society based on love, justice, and reconciliation.
As we conclude this visit, I urge you to continue praying to Our Lady of Suyapa for the Church, the Pope, the nation of Honduras, and the world at large. Let us embrace the Father’s merciful love and strive to bring joy and unity to all those around us.
May we be instruments of peace and love, spreading the message of Christ in all that we do. Amen.
