Pope Francis Commends Catholics in Rimini for Monthly Rosary for Peace

In a heartfelt message, Pope Francis expressed his gratitude to Catholics in the Italian city of Rimini who have been gathering in the city’s square every month for the past 10 years to pray the Rosary for peace. The Pope also urged Christians to continue spreading the Gospel of peace, even in the face of persecution.
The monthly Rosary initiative in Rimini was started by the Nazarat Committee for Persecuted Christians and has since spread to many cities around the world. Pope Francis acknowledged the Committee’s efforts in showing solidarity with those affected by conflicts, expressing his appreciation for their charity and compassion towards those suffering from injustice and oppression.
Spreading the Good News
Pope Francis emphasized the importance of sharing the message of peace in today’s turbulent world, calling on all Christians to be ambassadors of peace and unity. He hoped that the participants in the monthly Rosary prayer would continue to promote a culture of respect, inclusivity, and solidarity for all.
As Rimini’s public Rosary marks its 10th anniversary, Pope Francis encouraged the faithful to seek the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help, for strength and hope in times of difficulty, aiming for a future filled with tranquility and harmony.
Prayer for Persecuted People
Initiated in response to the persecution of Christians in Iraq by the Islamic State, the Rimini Rosary, titled “Appeal to Humanity,” is a prayer for all persecuted individuals, regardless of their faith. The Nazaret Committee believes that prayer is a powerful tool for transformation and positive change in the world.
Over the past decade, the initiative has raised funds to support vulnerable families in Syria and Iraq, offering assistance and hope to those in need. Bishop Nicolò Anselmi of Rimini will lead the 10th-anniversary Rosary prayer in the city’s main square on August 20.
