Welcome to our blog! This morning, an inspiring general audience took place at 9:00 in the Paul VI Hall, where His Holiness Pope Francis met with various groups of pilgrims and faithful from Italy and around the world.

In his enlightening speech in Italian, the Pope continued his series of catechesis on “The Spirit and the Bride.” Focusing on the theme “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me”, he delved into the significance of the Holy Spirit in the Baptism of Jesus.

After summarizing his teachings in different languages, the Holy Father extended a heartfelt greeting to all the faithful in attendance.

The General Audience concluded with the recitation of the Pater Noster and the bestowing of the Apostolic Blessing.

Cycle of Catechesis. The Spirit and the Bride. The Holy Spirit guides the people of God towards Jesus our hope. 6. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me”. The Holy Spirit in the Baptism of Jesus

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

Today, we reflect on the significant moment when the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus during His baptism in the Jordan River. This event marked the beginning of His ministry and the outpouring of the Spirit into His Church. The Gospel of Mark vividly describes this moment of divine revelation.

As Christians anointed in imitation of Christ, we are called to spread the fragrance of Christ through our lives. This spiritual aroma is manifested in virtues such as love, joy, peace, and kindness. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to deepen our awareness of this anointing and empower us to embody the good fragrance of Christ in the world.

Let us also remember the catechists on this special day dedicated to them, as well as continue to pray for peace in regions of conflict like Ukraine, Myanmar, South Sudan, and others. May the fragrance of Christ’s love and peace permeate these troubled lands.

Summary of the Holy Father’s words:

Dear brothers and sisters, in our ongoing catechesis on the Holy Spirit, we explore the significance of the Spirit descending upon Jesus at His baptism and how this anointing calls us to spread the fragrance of Christ in the world. Let us embrace our anointing and be bearers of Christ’s love and salvation to all we encounter.
