An Inspiring Story of Courage and Faith

Ján Havlík, a Slovak seminarian of the Congregation of the Mission, was beatified on August 31 in Slovakia. His unwavering Christian faith and courage under the communist regime earned him this honor.

A Beacon of Hope and Forgiveness

Born on February 12, 1928, Ján Havlík endured 14 years of persecution, torture, and forced labor for his faith and vocation. Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, at the beatification ceremony, described him as a joyful and compassionate person who continued to shine bright despite the adversities.

Words of Encouragement from Pope Francis

During the Angelus prayer, Pope Francis praised Ján Havlík’s perseverance and called on others to draw inspiration from his life. This message resonated with the faithful gathered, reflecting on the strength of unwavering faith in challenging times.

    The Vincentian Legacy

Father Tomaž Mavrič C.M., the Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission, highlighted the significance of Ján Havlík’s beatification for the Vincentian Family Movement. His life exemplifies the values of mercy, charity, and devotion to the Gospel.

    Legacy of Faithfulness

Cardinal Semeraro shared Ján Havlík’s words of encouragement to his fellow prisoners, emphasizing the importance of missionary zeal and faith even in challenging circumstances. Havlík’s dedication to his vocation and steadfast faith left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

    Inspiration for Today and Tomorrow

Ján Havlík’s life continues to inspire young people to embrace courage and sacrifice for their beliefs. His legacy serves as a reminder that living with faith and mercy towards others is a rewarding endeavor, echoing the teachings of Christ.

    A Lasting Impact

Ján Havlík’s beatification is a beacon of hope for all, urging us to keep our faith alive in all circumstances. As the Congregation of the Mission approaches its 400th anniversary, his story serves as a symbol of gratitude and renewal for the Vincentian Family Movement.
