The 15th General Assembly of the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) is currently underway in the vibrant city of Gaborone, Botswana. Exploring AI Solutions for African Broadcasters
The General Assembly has brought together top Chief Executives, industry officials, experts, academics, and content creators from all corners of Africa. They are engaging in discussions on topics such as the resilience of African media in the face of climate change, advocating for citizen engagement in climate action, and utilizing AI solutions for optimizing content production processes and audience measurement.
Promoting Authentic African Storytelling
The official opening of the AUB took place on September 3rd, with Botswana’s Vice President, Slumber Tsogwane, leading the ceremony as the guest of honor. In his address, he emphasized the need for vigilance in embracing the opportunities and challenges brought forth by Artificial Intelligence. He urged the AUB to strive for authentic representation of African stories and ensure that technology serves humanity.
AUB President Cleophas Barore of Rwanda echoed these sentiments, highlighting how Africa has always adapted to technological advancements. He emphasized the continent’s readiness to embrace change while maintaining the authenticity of African narratives.
