Welcome to a heartwarming encounter with the Holy Father, Pope Francis, as he visited the Caritas Technical Secondary School. The atmosphere was filled with joy and anticipation as the Pope met with the children of Street Ministry and Callan Services.
Upon his arrival at the covered stadium entrance, the Most Eminent Cardinal John Ribat, M.S.C., Archbishop of Port Moresby, and other dignitaries welcomed him warmly. Two children in traditional attire presented him with a bouquet of flowers before he made his way to the stage, greeted by songs from the choir.
The children of Callan Services and Street Ministry had the opportunity to ask the Pope questions and showcase traditional dances, creating a memorable moment for everyone present. Pope Francis, in his usual kindness, offered words of encouragement and blessings to the children, followed by an exchange of gifts and a group photo.
As the visit came to an end, Pope Francis proceeded to the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians to meet with bishops, priests, and other members of the clergy from Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.
The Pope’s Inspiring Message
In his address, Pope Francis commended the children for their performances and expressed gratitude for the love and warmth he received during his visit. He acknowledged the uniqueness of each individual and emphasized the importance of love in bringing joy and happiness into our lives.

He addressed the children’s questions about self-acceptance and creating a better world, emphasizing the power of love and dedication in achieving these goals. With a heartwarming analogy of a cat preparing to jump, he encouraged everyone to focus their energies on spreading love and kindness.
Pope Francis concluded by thanking the children and the school community for their love and light. He urged them to keep the flame of love burning bright, as a beacon of hope for the world. A touching reminder to cherish the gift of love and to pray for each other’s well-being.
