Following Pope Francis’ longest Apostolic Journey, there are numerous moments and images that are bound to leave a lasting impression on hearts and minds.

One striking image is that of the “tunnel of fraternity” blessed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Jakarta. In a world often dominated by negative connotations associated with tunnels, this underground passage connecting a mosque and a cathedral in Indonesia serves as a beacon of hope and unity.

Another poignant moment was when Pope Francis boarded an Australian Air Force aircraft to visit Argentine missionaries in Papua New Guinea, embodying the spirit of solidarity and compassion by delivering aid and gifts to the local community.

Each encounter on this pilgrimage reinforced the Pope’s commitment to empathy and understanding, whether it was his humble gesture of adjusting the wheelchair pedals for President José Manuel Ramos-Horta in Timor-Leste or his heartfelt embrace of children with disabilities.
