Pope Francis Calls for Peace Amid Escalation in Lebanon
Pope Francis recently made a heartfelt appeal against the escalating violence in Lebanon, denouncing the intense bombings that have caused devastation and loss of life in the region. During his Wednesday General Audience in St. Peter’s Square, the Holy Father expressed his sadness at the situation and called it ‘unacceptable’.

The Pope urged the international community to intervene and prevent further descent into violence, especially in light of the Israeli raids against Hezbollah that have led to numerous casualties, including innocent civilians and children.
In addition to praying for peace in Lebanon, Pope Francis also extended his thoughts and prayers to other war-torn regions like Ukraine, Myanmar, Palestine, Israel, and Sudan. He emphasized the need to remember all those who suffer due to war and called for unity in prayer for peace.
Support for Ukraine in the Midst of Tragedy
Expressing solidarity with the people of Ukraine, the Pope highlighted the ongoing tragedy that has unfolded since Russia’s invasion. He called on the faithful to offer assistance to those who are struggling and feeling hopeless in the midst of conflict.
Prayers for Apostolic Journey to Belgium and Luxembourg
Looking ahead to his upcoming Apostolic Journey to Luxembourg and Belgium on 26-29 September, Pope Francis requested prayers for the success of the visit. He hopes that the trip will serve as a catalyst for a renewed faith in the countries he will be visiting, following his recent journey to Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Singapore.
