From October 3rd to November 3rd, orange will be the predominant color in Umbria for Pumpkin Umbria, an event dedicated to the world of pumpkins, following in the footsteps of the American Pumpkin patch tradition, which has now become a part of Italian culture.
Attendees will be engaged in a series of fun and hands-on activities, featuring traditional farm games reimagined in a modern setting: from sack races to tug of war, pumpkin throwing, and a colorful maze. Some popular attractions from previous years, such as the Pumpkin Race karts and pumpkin decorating and carving workshops, will also be back along with new setups and surprises waiting to be discovered.
The outdoor spaces of the villa hosting the event will be filled with beloved animated characters from popular movies like the Minions, Inside Out, and many more. Additionally, there will be educational activities combining play and biodiversity awareness. Through educational workshops, school groups will learn about every stage of pumpkin cultivation, from soil preparation and planting to growth stages – from seed to fruit – and explore the different types and uses of pumpkins.
Pumpkin Umbria will take place at the villa in Spoleto, below the Baiano castles. The Umbrian hunting lodge from the 16th century is renowned for hosting scientist Galileo Galilei during his stays at the nearby Acquasparta Palace of Prince Federico Cesi.
The event, endorsed by the Municipality of Spoleto, is partnered with the Proloco of Baiano in Spoleto. Updates about the event can be found on Pumpkin Umbria’s social media channels, and tickets can be purchased on www.pumpkinumbria.it
