The Digital Missionaries Conclude Their Synod with an Online Prayer Vigil
As the Digital Synod initiative comes to a close, three Vatican officials gathered for an online prayer vigil at the tomb of St. Peter. This event marked the conclusion of a journey that has empowered thousands of Catholic digital missionaries in their service to the Church.
Dr. Paolo Ruffini and Msgr. Lucio Ruiz, along with Bishop Luis Marín de San Martín, came together on World Mission Sunday in the Clementine Chapel beneath St. Peter’s Basilica. The theme of the event was “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the Churches” (Rev 2:29).
A Vision for the Future
During the vigil, a vision for the future of digital missionary work was shared. Msgr. Ruiz announced the upcoming Jubilee for Missionaries and Catholic Digital Influencers, scheduled for July 28-29, 2025. He emphasized the importance of unity in the digital mission, encouraging all participants to continue dreaming and creating to spread God’s joy in a world in need of hope.
Embracing the Mission
Bishop Marín De San Martín reminded digital missionaries that their mission is not just about creating online personas, but about embracing real interactions and encounters. He called on them to step out of their comfort zones and engage with the world in all its complexities.
Inspiring Testimonies
Throughout the event, young influencers shared their experiences and prayer intentions. Their stories highlighted the impact of digital missionaries in spreading the message of Christianity, especially in regions like the Middle East.
A Call to Humility
Dr. Ruffini concluded the event with a call to humility, drawing inspiration from the life of St. Paul. He urged digital missionaries to serve with humility and compassion, embodying the values of communion and solidarity.
The Digital Synod may have come to an end, but the mission of the Church in the digital world continues. As Msgr. Ruiz reminded the participants, it is a mission that calls for courage, creativity, and above all, love.
