Shocking revelations have emerged from a recent report by the esteemed Human Rights organization Amnesty International. The report boldly claims that Israel is engaging in genocide in Gaza, with a staggering toll of over 42,000 deaths, including 13,300 innocent children, and widespread destruction. As expected, Israel vehemently denies these accusations.
Authored by the talented journalist Linda Bordoni, Amnesty International’s report titled ‘You Feel Like You Are Subhuman’: Israel’s Genocide Against Palestinians in Gaza paints a grim picture of Israel’s actions in Gaza. The report accuses Israel of carrying out indiscriminate airstrikes and treating Palestinians as expendable, all with the specific intent of eradicating the Palestinian population in Gaza.
According to the report, Israel’s military offensive following the deadly Hamas-led attacks in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, involved acts that violate the Genocide Convention. Amnesty International arrived at this conclusion after painstakingly analyzing incidents and statements made by Israeli officials.
Despite Israel’s repeated denials of any genocide allegations, Amnesty International stands by its findings. The Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesperson categorically dismissed the report as “fabricated” and “based on lies,” attributing the genocidal massacre to the Hamas terrorist organization.
Interestingly, Amnesty International’s branch in Israel distanced itself from the report, leading to the resignation of the director of Amnesty Israel and two Palestinian board members. This internal turmoil underscores the gravity of the situation in Gaza.
International Criminal Court Involvement
Adding fuel to the fire, the International Criminal Court recently issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his former defence chief, and a prominent Hamas official for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity related to the Gaza conflict. Both sides vehemently deny these allegations.
Amnesty International has also indicated that they will be releasing a report detailing the crimes committed by Hamas during the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel. The revelations continue to unravel, shedding light on the complex and dire situation in the region.
