The Closure of Cusano Italia Tv and Cusano News 7
Putting an end to programs and workers in mobility. The press office of the telematic university Unicusano, based in Rome on via Don Carlo Gnocchi, has announced the closure of the television channels Cusano Italia Tv and Cusano News 7, visible on channels 122 and 234 of digital terrestrial television. The broadcasts will be shut down starting at 2 PM.
The Closure of Cusano University TV Channels
This is not the first time something like this has happened at the telematic university. In the past, the owner and mayor of Terni, Stefano Bandecchi, had decided to close Radio Manà Sport and Radio Manà, only to reopen the radio broadcasts with Radio Cusano Campus. Even this station, however, has experienced highs and lows, with broadcasts interrupted and then resumed for unspecified reasons.

This time, it was the turn of the TV channels, five years after their first broadcast. The telematic university states that “the sad decision was made due to a university spin-off, unique in the national and European panorama, whose programming is interrupted due to the well-known events that have involved the Niccolò Cusano University and have made the television channels appear as commercial activities not related to the institutional purpose of the university’s third mission.” In summary, the blame for the closure lies with the judiciary, which is investigating alleged tax evasion. In mid-November, the prosecutor requested a trial for Stefano Bandecchi and other prominent figures at the university. The mayor of Terni is accused of evading approximately 22 million euros from 2016 to 2021.
Workers Left Jobless
This sudden decision impacts the future of “over 250 employed professionals,” the university further writes, who are “put in mobility and will inevitably remain without work.” The CEO, Stefano Bandecchi, and the entire Board of Directors promise that “everyone will pay for their responsibilities. Time will tell.” Meanwhile, the radio stations remain open: Radio Cusano Campus, Radio Manà Sport Roma, and Radio Laziale.
