Exciting Match between Juventus and Manchester City ends in a 0-0 draw

Thiago Motta’s squad for tonight’s Champions League clash between Juventus and Manchester City does not include Andrea Cambiaso. The Juventus full-back has failed to recover from a “modest sprain of the left ankle ligament” suffered during the league match against Bologna. As a result, Savona and Danilo are expected to play on the flanks, with Kalulu and Gatti forming the central defensive partnership. In midfield, McKennie and Douglas Luiz return from injury and are available for selection.
THE EVE
Manchester City finds itself in a rare period of difficulty, with Pep Guardiola’s team winning only one of their last eight games since November. However, Thiago Motta remains cautious of the Citizens.
“I do not judge others in their home, and it is relative to talk about a crisis,” emphasizes the Juventus coach on the eve of the Champions League encounter with the English side. “I can only admire what they have achieved in recent years: they have achieved extraordinary feats by winning four Premier League titles, a Champions League, and a Club World Cup. And Pep is incredibly strong; he has won everything with consistency, which is the most challenging thing.”
While City struggles, Juventus also faces challenges, coming off four consecutive draws and without a win since the derby against Torino on November 9. This prompted John Elkann to visit the team at Continassa ahead of the big Champions League match.
“It was important and pleasant to have him visit, but our conversation remains private,” responds Thiago Motta. “Now we will give our best against a great team like City. It’s a fantastic opportunity for us, and we must be ready to play with intensity and quality to pose difficulties for them.”
The return of Cambiaso, McKennie, and Douglas Luiz provides Motta with three additional options. “We are pleased they have recovered and can contribute to the team from the start or during the game,” says the coach. “I never use injuries as an excuse; what matters is how you handle situations. We are a young team but have shown character and personality.”
Vlahovic remains a certain starter in attack, aiming to end his goal drought since scoring against Lille on November 5. “Dusan will have another chance to prove his worth and must prioritize the team’s success, as he always has,” says Motta. Regarding comparisons with Haaland, he adds, “I don’t make comparisons; both are great strikers playing for top clubs, and I only know my opponents from television.”
Yildiz, who was initially left out of the lineup against Bologna, is set to support Vlahovic. “We are eager to play such a match and have prepared well,” assures the young Turkish talent. Reflecting on his recent performances, he states, “When I heard the Champions League anthem for the first time, I got goosebumps. I don’t know how far we will go, but we will do our best. I know I need to improve and score more goals.” On his preferred position, he diplomatically responds, “I play where the coach tells me to,” with a big smile, next to Thiago Motta who appreciates the player’s attitude.
