Welcome to Lumen TV-Zambia: Shedding Light on Catholicism with Solar Power

At Lumen TV-Z, the official Catholic television station in Zambia, a bright future is on the horizon thanks to the recent installation of an 11 KVA solar power system. Valued at 270,000 Kwacha (approximately 9,815 USD), this generous donation from GEI Power Limited is set to revolutionize the station’s operations.

Fr. Francis Mukosa, Secretary General of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), expressed his gratitude for GEI Power’s donation, emphasizing the vital role Lumen TV plays as the official television station of the Catholic Church in Zambia. The station serves as a catalyst for evangelization, education, and social engagement, providing a platform for spiritual growth and community outreach.

With the new solar power system in place, Lumen TV’s broadcasting capabilities are set to soar, ensuring uninterrupted programming even during power outages. Fr. Mukosa highlighted the alignment of this donation with the Church’s commitment to environmental stewardship, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices and reducing carbon emissions.

Ms. Mwangala Chakalashi, Director of Communications and Corporate Relations at GEI Power, reiterated the company’s dedication to providing clean, renewable energy solutions that empower communities and protect the environment. This partnership with Lumen TV is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in addressing energy access and sustainability challenges.

Fr. Arthur Ntembula, Director of Lumen TV, expressed his deep gratitude for the donation, recognizing it as a beacon of hope for the community. While the solar system represents a significant technological upgrade, there are still challenges ahead in fully operationalizing the new studio. Fr. Ntembula appealed to businesses, individuals, and organizations to support Lumen TV’s growth as they continue to expand their reach and impact.

As Lumen TV-Zambia embraces the power of solar energy, the future looks bright for this vital platform of Catholicism in Zambia. With a commitment to excellence, sustainability, and community engagement, Lumen TV is poised to shine a light on the teachings and values of the Catholic Church for years to come.
