The Archdiocese of Miami recently held its 13th annual “Archbishop’s Motorcycle Ride,” a charitable event led by Archbishop Thomas Wenski on a Harley motorbike.
This yearly fundraiser supports St. Luke’s Center, a program by Catholic Charities in Miami that provides rehab services, relapse prevention therapy, and other programs for individuals dealing with addiction.
Archbishop Wenski shared that he has been participating in charity rides for years, even before becoming the archbishop in 2010. “When I was bishop of Orlando, I did a few there too,” he mentioned with a chuckle.
“We do the ride annually, usually on the last Sunday of January,” the archbishop explained. “It has been growing each year, with 250-300 motorcycles participating this year.”

The day began with Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Doral, followed by a 50-mile ride to St. Justin Martyr Church in Key Largo.
While the $25 entry fee may not generate a significant amount of money, Archbishop Wenski emphasized the importance of supporting Catholic Charities’ rehabilitation work. He also highlighted the impact of widespread coverage, stating that it brings awareness to St. Luke’s Center and its crucial mission.
