    Sondos Shalabi: la tragedia nella Cisgiordania settentrionale

    Sondos Shalabi era incinta all’ottavo mese quando è stata uccisa dall’esercito israeliano domenica scorsa mentre cercava di fuggire dal campo profughi di Nur Shams, nella città di Tulkarm, nella Cisgiordania settentrionale. Né lei né il bambino sono sopravvissuti, mentre il marito è in condizioni critiche. Questo drammatico episodio è avvenuto nell’ambito dell’offensiva senza precedenti lanciata da Israele tre giorni dopo la tregua con Hamas a Gaza, con l’obiettivo di “sconfiggere il terrorismo” in Cisgiordania. A seguito degli attacchi a Tubas, Jenin e Tulkarm, i campi profughi di Jenin, Tulkarm, Nur Shams e El Far’a si sono svuotati parzialmente, costringendo già 40.000 palestinesi a sfollare, secondo i dati dell’Onu.

    L’operazione “Muro di ferro”

    L’Acled, nota Ong nel monitoraggio dei conflitti, ha riportato che a gennaio in Cisgiordania sono stati uccisi 70 palestinesi da Israele, di cui 44 nel contesto dell’operazione “Muro di ferro” avviata il 21 gennaio e ancora in corso. Le violenze sono aumentate del 14% rispetto al mese precedente.

    Dal 7 ottobre 2023, almeno 905 palestinesi, tra civili e miliziani, sono stati uccisi in Cisgiordania, secondo il ministero della Salute palestinese. Nello stesso periodo, sono morti almeno 32 israeliani, tra soldati e coloni.

    Israele blocca i soccorsi

    Shalabi e suo marito stavano cercando di mettersi al sicuro prima dell’ingresso dell’esercito israeliano nel campo profughi, ma sono stati colpiti dal fuoco israeliano mentre fuggivano, secondo l’Associated Press. La Mezzaluna Rossa ha tentato di raggiungerli due volte, ma i medici sono stati fermati dai soldati israeliani.

    Poco dopo, un’altra giovane palestinese di 21 anni è stata uccisa quando l’esercito israeliano ha fatto irruzione nella sua casa facendo esplodere la porta d’ingresso. L’esercito ha annunciato un’indagine su questo episodio.
