In a briefing with journalists, Matteo Bruni, Director of the Holy See Press Office, provided an update on Pope Francis’ condition. “The night went smoothly,” Bruni said. “The Pope had a good rest, had breakfast this morning, and caught up on the news. We expect to receive more medical updates later this afternoon, around 6-7 PM. For now, there are no new medical developments to report. Further information on his health will be provided in the evening.”
Pope Francis was admitted to the hospital last Friday due to bronchitis symptoms that persisted for two weeks. On Monday, the Press Office confirmed that the Pope is fever-free and following the prescribed treatment plan.
Earlier today, it was announced that Pope Francis will not be able to preside over the Jubilee of Deacons Mass on Sunday, February 23. Archbishop Rino Fisichella will lead the celebration on behalf of the Pope.
Despite his health challenges, Pope Francis has been uplifted by the outpouring of support and well-wishes he has received, including heartfelt messages and drawings from children in the hospital’s pediatric oncology unit.
