It was a poignant moment in the same Square where Pope Francis, on his first day as Pontiff, blessed the crowds and sought their blessings in return. Now, the same people came together to offer prayers for their beloved shepherd, who has been hospitalized at Gemelli Hospital for ten days.

Despite the rain and a transport strike in Rome, hundreds of faithful responded to the call to join in prayer for Pope Francis. This gathering amplified the ongoing prayer marathon that had commenced in dioceses worldwide. The outpouring of affection and closeness towards the 88-year-old Pontiff manifested in various forms—from Rosaries to Masses to fervent prayers for his speedy recovery.
