Relief Amidst Conflict: Comboni Missionaries’ Provincial House in Sudan Still Standing Strong

Months of uncertainty have finally come to an end for the members of the Comboni missionaries as they received news that their provincial house in Sudan remains unscathed amidst the ongoing conflicts in the country.
According to a report by the Vatican’s Fides news agency, the Comboni Missionaries’ provincial house in Khartoum has been inaccessible for over 18 months due to the turmoil in the region. However, the recent update confirming its good condition has brought a sense of relief and hope to the community.
“With the arrival of the army in Bahri (North Khartoum),” the missionaries shared, “we have finally received news about the provincial house, which fortunately seems to be unharmed.”
Despite this positive development, the conflicts in other parts of Khartoum continue to intensify, with recent clashes causing destruction and disruptions, including a power outage in Kosti, south of Khartoum, for two weeks.
The lack of electricity has exacerbated the living conditions in Khartoum, leading to a rise in cholera cases due to the scarcity of clean water. Unfortunately, negotiations to end the hostilities seem unlikely at this point.
Through it all, the resilience of the Comboni missionaries shines bright as they navigate through the challenges, holding onto hope and faith in the midst of adversity.
