Welcome to the latest blog post from the Gemelli Hospital, where Pope Francis is currently receiving treatment for pneumonia. Despite his health challenges, the Pope took the time to send a heartfelt message to the staff and students of the Pontifical Institute of Liturgy, marking the inauguration of a course for those responsible for liturgical ceremonies celebrated by a bishop.

Written from his hospital bed on 26 February, Pope Francis shared words of encouragement and advice for those participating in the course at the St. Anselm Pontifical Institute of Liturgy. In his message, the Pope emphasized the importance of promoting and safeguarding liturgical life, highlighting the essential role it plays in the spiritual life of the People of God.

Despite his physical limitations, the Pope continues to engage in work-related activities, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to his mission. Addressing the leaders and students of the Institute, he urged them to approach liturgical celebrations with a focus on both theological principles and pastoral ministry, emphasizing the need for humility and discretion in their roles.

    Striving for Wisdom and Love

Quoting St. Teresa of Avila, Pope Francis spoke of the interplay between divine and human wisdom, urging liturgical leaders to seek a balance between prayer, meditation, and study. By acquiring both divine and human wisdom, they can better serve the faithful and foster active participation in the Church’s liturgical life.

As the Pope concluded his message, he reminded liturgical leaders to remain attentive to the needs of the people they serve and to always have the People of God at heart. His parting words were a humble request for prayers, showing his deep spiritual connection to those he leads.

Let us all take inspiration from Pope Francis’s message and strive to approach our own responsibilities with wisdom, love, and a deep commitment to serving others in the spirit of humility and devotion.
