Are you a spiritual traveler looking to explore spirituality, landscapes, and culture? Look no further than the ‘Cammini della Fede’ web app, developed by the IT Service of the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) for the Jubilee. This app was recently presented at the “Fa’ la Cosa Giusta” fair at Fiera Milano-Rho, in the presence of the CEI Secretary General, Monsignor Giuseppe Baturi, and Don Marco Fagotti.
The app provides an interactive map of the Jubilee routes that crisscross Lombardy and beyond. Prominent among these are ancient routes leading to Rome, such as the Via Francigena, the Matildica, the Via di Francesco, and the Romea Strata.
The app is designed around the three essential needs of a pilgrim: prayer, food, and accommodation. Each point on the map is georeferenced and accompanied by practical and spiritual information. Additionally, the app allows users to receive the Jubilee “Testimonium” by walking at least 100 km (or cycling 200 km) along one of the recognized routes. The system automatically records the segments traveled and generates a digital certificate.
“Religious journeys are more than just physical paths: they are inner voyages, experiences that intertwine faith, silence, nature, history, and tradition,” as stated by Lombardy’s Tourism Councillor, Barbara Mazzali. “With this web app, we offer pilgrims and tourists a simple yet incredibly rich tool to discover – or rediscover – the spiritual essence of Lombardy.”
