Pope Francis Surprises Pilgrims with Palm Sunday Visit
During a surprise visit to Saint Peter’s Square, Pope Francis extended his warm wishes for a “Happy Palm Sunday and Happy Holy Week” to all the pilgrims gathered there. The visit took place following the conclusion of the Mass presided over by Cardinal Leonardo Sandri on behalf of the Pope.
This unexpected appearance by Pope Francis was met with joy and enthusiasm by the faithful, who had come to celebrate Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion. Stepping out of the Basilica for around ten minutes, the Pope greeted the crowd and offered his blessings before moving among the people in his wheelchair.
This visit by Pope Francis is just one of many recent public appearances he has made, including last Sunday’s Jubilee of the Sick and the World of Healthcare, as well as visits to Saint Peter’s Basilica and the Basilica of Saint Mary Major. Each interaction with the faithful serves to strengthen the bond between the Pope and the people.
