It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the renowned lawyer, journalist, and writer Nino Marazzita at the age of 87. Born in Palmi, Calabria, on April 2, 1938, his son Giuseppe shared the news on social media: “Today my father fought his final battle with the same determination as always, the one that no one can win. He leaves a great void, along with the indelible memory of his intelligence, his humor, his great humanity, and his kindness. Goodbye Papino.”
Who Was Nino Marazzita
Marazzita had been practicing law since 1965. Throughout his long career, he was involved in many famous trials: he defended Pietro Pacciani in the appeal and assisted the Bianchi family for the death of Milena Bianchi in Tunisia; he was a civil party lawyer in the trial for the murder of writer Pier Paolo Pasolini; he represented the family of Rosaria Lopez in the trial for the Circeo massacre, was the lawyer of Eleonora Moro in the trial for the murder of Aldo Moro, and defended Donato Bilancia in court.
Journalist and Lawyer
As a journalist, Marazzita edited the legal magazine ‘L’Eloquenza,’ founded by Prof. Giuseppe Sotgiu, whom he trained under in the early years of his career; from 1985 to 1995, he hosted a series of radio programs on Radiouno, including ‘Uno studio per voi,’ answering listeners’ legal questions. He participated in numerous TV and radio programs, both on legal and judicial issues, and on specific cases in the news. He collaborated with the criminology magazine ‘Detective & Crime,’ with the magazine ‘Polizia e Democrazia,’ and hosted the TV segment ‘L’Avvocato risponde’ on Rai Due, where he addressed legal questions from viewers. He was also a consultant and recurring guest on the radio and TV show ‘Italia: istruzioni per l’uso’ on Rai Radio 1 and Rai News, hosted by Emanuela Falcetti.

From 2013 to 2019, lawyer Marazzita was part of the legal panel on the TV court show ‘Forum’ on Canale 5 and Rete 4. He co-authored the book ‘L’avvocato dei diavoli: da Pietro Pacciani a Donato Bilancia: un protagonista racconta quarant’anni di crimini e misteri italiani’ with Matilde Amorosi, published by Rizzoli in 2006.
