Exploring with ABC – A Different Perspective

    All the Winners

The annual journey of A spasso con ABC has come to an end at the Teatro Palladium, with the awards ceremony for the best projects within the 2024-25 edition of the ABC School Projects. It was a true adventure that began in Rome and Lazio, exploring special places rich in history, art, and beauty, where students were accompanied by writers, actors, historians, directors, and artists.

This year’s stops included Barcelona with Paola Minaccioni and Marco Lodoli, Tuscia with Bracciano, Bolsena, and Trevignano with the E45 Company, Rieti with actress Francesca Reggiani, the new Museum of Forma Urbis in the Archaeological Park of Celio with readings by Paola Minaccioni, the Basilica of Saints John and Paul with stories by Marco Lodoli, Fossanova and the Garden of Ninfa accompanied by actress Enrica Guidi.

The ceremony, opened with institutional greetings from Claudia Pratelli, Councilor for Education, Training, and Employment of Rome Capital, Amedeo Ciaccheri, President of Municipio Roma VIII, and Giovanna Pugliese, project coordinator for ABC, was hosted by journalist Alfredo Di Giovampaolo, author and host of the Rai News 24 program Cammina Italia. He dedicated an episode to the visit to Ninfa with the co-hosting of the students from the ABC School Projects, who were able to see it at the beginning of the event.

Writer Marco Lodoli delved into the concept of “a different perspective,” the true guiding thread of A spasso con ABC, and shared anecdotes about the Commission’s work in judging the schools’ projects. Actors Matteo Cirillo and Emiliano Morana, accompanied by music from Armando Valletta, performed the itinerant show “Pensieri a voce alta” (Thoughts Out Loud), produced by the E45 Company – Strategies for Culture: a comedic and poetic performance celebrating the simplicity, beauty, and sometimes absurdity of our everyday thoughts, often overlooked or underestimated but actually forming the fabric of our daily lives.

The award ceremony also featured Nadya Borzak, granddaughter of Gabriella Ferri, who sang Roman folk songs, engaging the students.

    Below are the awards:

SPECIAL MENTION for the URBAN SKETCHING storytelling presented by Class 4°B of the Artistic High School Michelangelo Buonarroti in Latina with the following motivation:

This travel sketchbook by the 4°B class of the Artistic High School Michelangelo Buonarroti in Latina, with original drawings and texts, beautifully captures the visited places with ABC through a poetic and artistic perspective.

SPECIAL MENTION for the work NAMES, THINGS, AND CITIES IN A TRUE GAME presented by Class 4°B cpt of the ITA Emilio Sereni in Rome with the following motivation: This integrated and inclusive project by the Emilio Sereni Institute in Rome is a true group effort where everyone contributed with their own skills and abilities. The personalized tiles brought to life with colors, along with the video narrating the ABC experience, are truly remarkable.

3rd PRIZE for the text WHEREVER, WHERE YOU WANT ME presented by the IIS CELESTINO ROSATELLI in Rieti with the following motivation:

This moral operetta, a philosophical dialogue between a man and Nature, would likely be appreciated by Giacomo Leopardi. Nature, this time, is not indifferent and cruel to its new interlocutor; instead, it patiently and affectionately explains how it benevolently supports the world, its history, human life, and creativity. Let’s applaud the beautiful text produced by the students of the Rosatelli Institute in Rieti!

2nd PRIZE for the video AMONG THE WALLS AND DREAMS OF BARCELONA presented by Class 4° L of the IPSEOA TOR CARBONE in Rome with the following motivation:

The video “Among the Walls and Dreams of Barcelona” is touching and poignant, giving voice to the young Spanish anarchist Salvador Puig Antich, cruelly executed by the Franco regime. Salvador dreams of the life he never had, his city, Barcelona, and the emotions he wished to experience but were cruelly taken from him. This intense and engaging work was created by the students of the Tor Carbone Institute in Rome.

1st PRIZE for the board game THE CITY AND ITS POETS presented by Class 4°H of the IIS DONATO BRAMANTE in Rome with the following motivation:

The jury was truly astonished and impressed by the creativity of this group of students, who turned their ABC travels into a fantastic board game, “The City and Its Poets.” This game, a kind of goose game, features squares containing poems by Garcia Lorca, Belli, and Trilussa, in Barcelona and Rome. A real stroke of genius, as the students say. A big round of applause to the imagination of the IV H class of the Donato Bramante Institute in Rome.

The ABC School Projects guide students to explore the world of cinema and audiovisual, writing, music, theater, history, and the unique places of Rome and Lazio.
