Welcome to a momentous occasion at the Vatican! The reopening of the papal apartment, which had been sealed following the passing of Pope Francis, took place in a solemn ceremony after the Regina Caeli.
On 11 May, Pope Leo XIV oversaw the removal of the seals that had closed off the papal apartment since 21 April. The presence of esteemed figures such as the Camerlengo, Cardinal Farrell, and the Secretary of State, Cardinal Parolin, added to the significance of the event.
Also in attendance were Archbishop Peña Parra, Archbishop Gallagher, and Archbishop Sapienza, all key figures in the Vatican hierarchy. The reopening marks a symbolic moment in the transition of papal authority and signals a new chapter in the Vatican’s history.
