Welcome to the Pope Leo XIV Media Professionals Meeting!

Excitement was in the air as Pope Leo XIV graciously met with media professionals in Rome to discuss the importance of truth and peace in communication. The newly-elected Pope wasted no time in holding an audience with those who had been diligently reporting on the events surrounding his papal election.

In a heartfelt address at the Vatican’s Paul VI Hall, Pope Leo XIV emphasized the crucial role that communication plays in fostering peace and shaping a society’s culture. He urged media professionals to approach their work with integrity, seeking truth and promoting harmony in their reporting.

Notably, the Pope expressed solidarity with journalists who face persecution for speaking the truth, calling for their release and highlighting the significance of freedom of expression and the press. He commended reporters for their efforts to present the Church in the light of Christ’s love during the recent interregnum period, encouraging them to transcend stereotypes and clichés.

As Pope Leo XIV addressed the challenges of our times, he emphasized the need for responsible and discerning communication, particularly in the era of artificial intelligence. He stressed the importance of using AI for the benefit of all humanity, underscoring the need for ethical considerations in its implementation.

In closing, the Pope echoed Pope Francis’ message for the 2025 World Day of Social Communication, calling on all to disarm communication of prejudice and hatred. Together, through truthful and peaceful communication, we can contribute to building a more harmonious and understanding world.

Join us in embracing the Pope’s message and committing to promote truth, peace, and solidarity through our communication efforts. Let’s work together to create a culture of dialogue and respect in our media environments.
