Welcome to Pope Leo XIV’s May Liturgical Celebrations!
Get ready for a month full of spiritual blessings as the Vatican releases the calendar of Pope Leo XIV’s liturgical celebrations for May. This month, dedicated to the Blessed Mother, promises to be a time of prayer, reflection, and devotion.
The festivities will kick off on Sunday, 18 May, as Pope Leo XIV presides over the Mass for the beginning of his Petrine Ministry in St. Peter’s Square at 10 AM. It will be a momentous occasion you won’t want to miss!
Throughout the month, the Holy Father will make visits to major basilicas in Rome, including a pilgrimage to the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls on Tuesday, 20 May, and a Eucharistic Celebration at the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran on Sunday, 25 May.
One of the highlights of the month will be the formal installation of the Pope on the Cathedra Romana during the Mass at the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran. This symbolic gesture signifies the Pope’s role as the Bishop of Rome.
Don’t miss the opportunity to witness Pope Leo XIV’s devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary as he visits the Basilica of St. Mary Major on the same day to venerate the revered icon of the Salus Populi Romani.
And mark your calendars for Saturday, 31 May, the Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, when Pope Leo XIV will preside over Mass with priestly ordinations in St. Peter’s Basilica at 10 AM. It will be a beautiful and solemn celebration to end the month on a high note.
