Fr. Valentin Mbaibarem Released after Being Kidnapped
Exciting news has emerged from Cameroon as Fr. Valentin Mbaibarem, the parish priest of St. John the Baptist Church in Madingring, has been released after being kidnapped on May 7. He is the last of six hostages captured on that day to be freed, and Archbishop Faustin Ambassa Ndjodo of Garoua has confirmed that the priest is in good physical condition.
According to an interview with the Vatican’s Fides news agency, Fr. Valentin Mbaibarem was released sometime during the night of May 15 to 16. He has already received medical attention and is said to be doing well.
Four hostages were released before Fr. Valentin Mbaibarem, while unfortunately, one person lost their life during the captivity. Reports had indicated that a ransom of about $42,000 was demanded for the priest’s release, but the Archbishop clarified that the archdiocese did not pay any ransom. It remains unclear if any other party paid the ransom.
The Archdiocese of Garoua expressed gratitude to all those who prayed for Fr. Valentin Mbaibarem’s release and extended blessings to everyone who contributed to this positive outcome. The community continues to come together in support and prayer for all those affected by this ordeal.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as we celebrate Fr. Valentin Mbaibarem’s safe return home.
