Welcome to FarFestival: A Celebration of Ecology, Sustainability, and Biodiversity
Mark your calendars for May 8th to 11th for the inaugural edition of FarFestival: an event dedicated to ecology, sustainability, and biodiversity in the Nazzano Tevere Farfa Regional Nature Reserve.
Organized by the Nazzano Tevere Farfa Regional Nature Reserve in collaboration with popular science communicator Andrea Bonifazi, this four-day event will feature a wide range of activities. From scientific talks to canoe excursions, educational workshops to local crafts, beekeeping to boat rides on the Tevere River, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The festival aims to provide an immersive experience of the natural reserve for both adults and children. Expect high-caliber speakers, including university professors, researchers, and environmental advocates, who have dedicated their lives to environmental conservation. The event will take place at the reserve’s headquarters, transformed into a Sustainability Village with local food stands.
“The name FarFestival holds multiple meanings for this event focused on ecology, sustainability, and biodiversity,” commented Commissioner Riccardo Luciani and Festival Director Andrea Bonifazi. “It’s a playful play on words combining ‘Farfa’ and ‘Festival,’ directly referencing a festival in the Tevere-Farfa Reserve. Moreover, ‘Far’ emphasizes the importance of action and practicality in sustainability efforts. It underscores that sustainability is not just an ideal but a tangible commitment requiring active participation from all attendees. In short, we can all – and must – do something.”
The festival kicks off on Thursday, May 8th, at 9:30 am at the reserve’s headquarters in Meana, Nazzano (RM). Admission is free, and the festival will run from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm. Complimentary boat rides on the Tevere River will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve a spot, call 347.6104110.
