Get ready for an unforgettable night of contemporary theater as The Game makes its way to the Teatro Tor Bella Monaca in Rome on May 13th and 14th, 2025.
What is The Game?
The Game is a term used by migrants to describe the illegal crossing of borders, specifically on the Balkan route in Bosnia, with the goal of reaching the more prosperous nations of the European Union. In the heart of this context, the Binario Vivo association from Pisa has created a theatrical performance that stands out for its provocative nature and interactivity, addressing complex themes such as immigration and the harsh difficulties encountered by people during migratory journeys. Through a creative reinterpretation of the term The Game, the actors embark on an adventure similar to an interactive video game.
Who?
Gianluca Iumiento, an established international director-playwright, returns from Oslo to direct the contemporary theater company Binario Vivo, in a production of the Teatro Nuovo di Pisa, for only three performances in Rome following a residency at the Teatro Filodrammatici in Milan.
The Game premiered at the Sarajevo War Theatre in 2022, after two years of field research at the same immigration centers in the Balkans, as part of the European project ETL (Expanding Theatre Landscapes) co-financed by Creative Europe.
