Welcome to the World Day of Peace 2025 Blog!
Are you ready for a year of peace and forgiveness? Pope Francis has chosen the theme “Forgive us our trespasses: grant us your peace” for the upcoming World Day of Peace in 2025.
In a statement from the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Development, it is emphasized that true peace can only come from a genuine conversion on all levels – personal, local, and international. Peace is not just the absence of conflict, but a new reality where wounds are healed and each person’s dignity is recognized.
The World Day of Peace, observed on January 1st, was established by Pope St Paul VI in 1967. Each year, the Pope offers reflections on important topics such as the United Nations, human rights, diplomacy, and economic development in his Messages for the day.
This year, the theme focuses on the biblical and ecclesial understanding of the Jubilee Year, with the Holy Father highlighting the importance of forgiveness and peace. Inspired by Pope Francis’s encyclicals Laudato sí and Fratelli tutti, the theme focuses on hope and forgiveness at the heart of the Jubilee.
The Dicastery highlights the need for a spiritual, social, economic, ecological, and cultural change by reflecting on conflicts and social sins in light of the forgiveness and reconciliation brought about by the Jubilee tradition. Through the principles of hope and forgiveness, we can strive towards a more peaceful and harmonious world.
Join us on this journey towards peace and forgiveness in 2025. Let’s work together to create a world where forgiveness leads to true peace.
