Welcome to the next leg of Pope Francis’s journey as he concludes his visit to Indonesia and heads to Papua New Guinea on his Apostolic Journey through Asia and Oceania!

    By Vatican News staff reporter

The day started with a private Mass at the Apostolic Nunciature in Jakarta, Indonesia, as Pope Francis prepared for his flight to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Upon arrival at the airport, the Holy Father was warmly welcomed by Indonesia’s Minister for Religious Affairs, the Cardinal Archbishop of Jakarta, and various civil and religious dignitaries.

As he bid farewell to those gathered to see him off, Pope Francis took a moment to interact with the ground crew and staff assisting with his flight.

    Next Stop: Papua New Guinea

After a six-hour journey covering nearly 4700 kilometers, Pope Francis is set to reach Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, later in the evening.

The agenda in Papua New Guinea kicks off on Saturday with meetings with local officials, civil society members, and students at the Caritas Technical Secondary School.

Subsequent events include gatherings with religious leaders, a visit to Sir John Guise Stadium for a Mass celebration, and a trip to the diocese of Vanimo to meet with missionaries and the faithful.

The final day in Papua New Guinea will see Pope Francis engaging with young people before continuing his journey to Dili in Timor Leste.
